IYA Awareness-Chalk Drawing Competition

The Physics 25 classes, headed by Sir Karpov Buss, along with the psychology students, will be having a chalk drawing competition today at 10:00am at the Luce sidewalk. This is part of the awareness for the International Year of Astronomy 2009. The theme of the said event will be the same for IYA, which is,

"The Universe, Yours to Discover"

This is in fulfillment of one of the IYA's major goals, which is to increase scientific awareness.

damn you! is that a physics thing?
you are suppose to solve mathematical problems...
physics and astronomy are not about "chalk drawings" and trivial-on-challenging stuffs...

your department is indeed useless and second rate

that was harsh;
there is such a thing as scientific awareness. There are other means in which you can arouse curiosity in students who are not naturally inclined to the math side of the field. Physics and astronomy are not limited to the four walls of the classroom.

if you woud look at what the blog is about in the sidebar, it says:
A place to post activites being organized and held by the Silliman University Physics Department.

Just because you focus on the sciences does not mean that cannot engage in activities that will keep the community interested in science. Remember that not everyone in the university is interested yet they are required to take physics subjects. Do you teach for the sake of the students who pass by your class, or do you teach for the students to learn and develop their own curiosity and intellect?

The Physics department tackle the science and the math everyday in the classrooms,so there is no need for special mention of math in every activity the department engages in. It is not like we do chalk-drawing the entire school year.

what are your concerns in particular? Do be responsible in addressing your concerns through the proper channels. If you cannot be responsible for your claims then you do not have anything credible to say, and not to mention, your methods are unethical.

If you have concerns with teachers, students, peers, or the graduates, then I suggest you address your problems properly in order for it to be resolved. Crab mentallity is not productive at all.

Do not question others behind a veil of being anonymous. Don't make claims if you yourself are of questionable standing.
